For three years, the name ANDRÉUS was quiet. After a string of releases that culminated in the 2022 Showdown EP, the producer from Olney, Maryland, went dark. In the fast-moving world of electronic music, three years can feel like a lifetime. It’s enough time for scenes to be born and die, for sounds to go from cutting-edge to cliché. So, what was he building in the quiet? The answer arrived on April 11, 2025. It wasn’t a whisper, but a sonic boom named “BAUOW“—a five-minute monster of a track that not only broke the silence but also launched a brand-new label, Red Set Records, with ANDRÉUS as its first artist.

Listening to “BAUOW” is the best explanation for the long wait. The track opens with shimmering, almost cathedral-like pads and a lonely, echoing vocal chop that feels like a signal from a distant star. It’s the calm before the storm, a moment of deep space before the machine whirs to life. Then, the drop hits, and it’s a full-on sensory assault in the best way possible. It’s not the muddy, distorted bass of years past – this is the sound of modern dubstep. It’s the clash of metallic, grinding textures against beautiful, high-frequency sparks of melody—the “color bass” he was determined to create. It’s the sound of a giant mech powering up, with every gear-shift and laser blast hitting with stunning, high-definition clarity. This is what he meant when he said he wanted it to be intense, but also surreal.

That complex, mechanical sound has roots in a very human place. The entire ANDRÉUS project is built on a foundation of pure fascination. It started at age seven, not in a studio, but in a living room, figuring out the language of rhythm on a plastic Rock Band drum set. The real lightning-bolt moment came when his older brother showed him Skrillex, leaving him with a burning question that would define his future: “I didn’t know how those sounds could even be made“. That question is the ghost in his machine, the creative itch that “BAUOW” so satisfyingly scratches.

The journey from asking the question to building the answer was a long one. His drum instructor, Tarek, gave him the keys when he introduced him to Native Instruments Maschine, turning abstract curiosity into tangible creation. His early discography, including the 2021 track Passenger 7 that pulled in thousands of streams, shows an artist finding his footing and learning the tools. They were the early blueprints. “BAUOW” is the finished product, meticulously engineered using the schematics of artists he admires, like Slushii & Affinity and TYNAN and Ace Aura. The three years of silence now make perfect sense. It was the time spent in the lab, obsessively refining every gear and polishing every chrome detail of this new sound.

With this track, ANDRÉUS has done more than just return. He has delivered a definitive statement. It’s the sound of an artist who stepped back, honed his craft, and came back with something that is unequivocally his. For Red Set Records, there could be no better opening salvo. They’ve launched their label with an artist who has not only a compelling history but a clear and exciting vision for the future.
